As a part of its commitment to provide quality health care service to the underprivileged people residing in the slums and periphery villages, SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has gone one step ahead by putting into service a state-of-the-art Mobile Medical Van. The diagnostic facilities include blood sugar testing, biochemistry testing of blood, urine, TB screening and X-Ray. The Air-Conditioned van equipped with power backup is laced with a laptop and internet facility to get the medical team connected to the main hospital for facilitating consultation or decision making.

Soon after the flag off the mobile Medical Unit was used in a health camp organised at Sector – 14 for the inhabitants of the adjacent slums namely Shanti Nagar, Shiva Mandir and Talab Basti. More than 100 persons were screened, tested and treated under different heath projects of CSR by a team comprising two doctors, one pharmacist and a bio-chemist. Free medicine was also

given to the patients. A Dengue awareness camp was also organised on this occasion. A team from the CSR department coordinated the camp.
It is worth mentioning here that, as a part of its CSR initiatives RSP has been providing multifarious medical facilities to the residents of its peripheral villages, Resettlement Colonies, Model Steel Villages as well as industrial slums through different health care projects such as weekly medical camps, Health centres and periodical multidisciplinary health camps.
