CBI REGISTERS A CASE AGAINST AN OFFICIAL OF ROURKELA STEEL PLANT AND OTHERS INCLUDING A PRIVATE COMPANY, AND CONDUCTS SEARCHES
Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against a Senior Operative (T&RM Department) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a private company based at Gottivalasa, Garugubulli (Andhra Pradesh) and others in connection with a cheating case.
It was alleged that the private company represented by its Directors during the period from April, 2015 to April, 2018 entered into a conspiracy with the Senior Operative (T&RM Department), Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), Rourkela & unknown others and cheated the RSP to the tune of Rs. 99,47,121/- (approx.).

It was further alleged that the said supplier has submitted bills pertaining to raw material supplied to RSP enclosing forged/fabricated weighment sheets purportedly issued by South Eastern Railway (SER) by inflating the weight of raw material (Quartzite) supplied & claimed higher payments through the bills thereon. It was also alleged that, in furtherance of the said conspiracy, the Senior Operative of RSP accepted and processed the said bills submitted by the supplier along with forged weighment sheets and accordingly, excess payment of Rs. 99,47,121/- (approx.) was made to the supplier, causing loss to Rourkela Steel Plant.
Searches are being conducted today at three places in the premises of accused at Rourkela & Rairangpur in Odisha.
