{"id":94,"date":"2021-09-01T22:51:36","date_gmt":"2021-09-01T17:21:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/satyanewsalert.in\/?p=94"},"modified":"2021-09-01T22:51:39","modified_gmt":"2021-09-01T17:21:39","slug":"big-catch-palghar-fisherman-nets-rs-1-33-cr-fortune-from-arabian-sea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/satyanewsalert.in\/?p=94","title":{"rendered":"Big Catch: Palghar Fisherman Nets Rs 1.33 Cr Fortune From Arabian Sea"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Palghar (Maharashtra):\u00a0<\/strong>Palghar fisherman Chandrakant Tare \u2013 who pulled in a net-full of 157 \u2018Ghol\u2019 (Croaker) fish, worth an astounding Rs 1.33 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The good fortune struck Tare when he resumed his fishing activity on his trawler \u2018Harbadevi\u2019 with 10 others, after the two-month-long monsoon ban ended on August 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tare, a resident of Murbhe coastal village, and his team set sail to Wadhwan, around 45 kms off Palghar shores, casting their nets with prayers and hopes for a good catch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their prayers were answered a few days later when they pulled in the nets \u2013 and found the 157 \u2018Ghols\u2019 (Protonibe Diacanthus) struggling to break free from the tough nylon strings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tare and his crew were stunned to find such a huge quantity of \u2018Ghols\u2019 \u2013 also known as the \u201csea gold\u201d \u2013 since the fish is in huge demand as a culinary delicacy and for its internal organs in south and south-east Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He sold it to a consortium of the highest bidders from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh \u2013 at Rs 1.33 crore \u2013 considered the highest-ever price for \u2018Ghol\u2019 in the entire Konkan region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coveted in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong and other countries, the \u2018Ghol\u2019 fish fins are said to have huge medicinal value, and are used by pharma companies to make soluble stitches, and for wine purification, while its bladder cures kidney stones, and its heart boosts sex power and immunity, say locals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"540\" src=\"http:\/\/satyanewsalert.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2021-09-01-at-21.49.43-1024x540.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-95\" srcset=\"https:\/\/satyanewsalert.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2021-09-01-at-21.49.43-1024x540.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/satyanewsalert.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2021-09-01-at-21.49.43-300x158.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/satyanewsalert.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2021-09-01-at-21.49.43-768x405.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/satyanewsalert.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2021-09-01-at-21.49.43.jpeg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to fisherman Jitendra Patil, in recent years, there has been a big drop in the fish population around the coastal areas owing to rampant marine pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are forced to venture far into the Arabian Sea for a decent catch adding to the costs and time\u2026 We rarely net one or two \u2018Ghols\u2019, and once a fisherman had caught around a dozen in his nets.
